Mr. Marathon

Jared ran the Valley of Fire marathon on Saturday (Nov. 22nd); which was also his FIRST marathon. He did awesome!!He ran it in a 8:23 pace and finished 6th out of 108!!! The course is a tough one and is mostly uphill!

A big marathon runner in our ward ran the half-marathon that day and when Jared asked her why she wasn't running the full marathon she said: "Because this course sucks!! It is all uphill." What a boost of confidence right before the start (hee, hee).
I am married to a MAJOR STUD!!!

Isaac trying on the marathon medal......maybe someday he'll run with dad.The boys checking out the fire truck while we wait for dad.

So, the marathon "bug" has bitten the STUD!! He is already planning to run the Ogden Marathon in May to see how he does on a more traditional course!! And when he does his "couch potato" wife and the two boys will be cheering him on at the finish..

Happy Halloween

In preparation for the BIG night!
Drew practicing wearing the mask during the day.
Batman and Robin ready to go......Look Dad...we practiced today! Let's get that mask on, Robin!
Nope, not going to wear the mask!!! All that practice for nothing.
(Still cute, but what a stinker)!
Batman decides to ditch Robin and hook up with Super Girl.
Isaac with our neighbor McKenna trick-or-treating!!
Robin flying solo!
Yeah, they finally put me down....let's check this place out!
Holy Metal Ground, Batman!!
What is this thing??
Are we sure that metal ground is okay?
I better head back for further investigation.

Okay, okay....I lost my solo status.
But, now I have to be mom's sidekick?!?!?!
At least she let me eat some loot.Good, at least I got back to being a male's sidekick.
Thanks Dad for taking us trick-or-treating.
Holy Candy Batman!! Look what two superheros can do!
Candy, smandy....who wants candy when there are fruit snacks?!?
Wow Batman!! Check out this LOOT!
Those are some seriously nice neighbors.

And just in case you didn't get enough of Batman and Robin....
Check out our professional headshots!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I think Batman summed up the night best when he said:
"I wuv candy"...as he was coming down one of the neighbors steps.

One Year

Alot happens in one year....especially if you are a baby.

You go from 7lbs 6 oz

to 22 pounds.

Colicky(but loveable)

to gabby and definitely LOVEABLE.

My favorite word is "this".....I walk around the house saying it ALL the time.

No teeth and the solid GOLD formula

to 10 teeth and eating cheetos (yum, my favorite thanks to Dad)!

Severe torticollis and a helmet

to America's next TOP model.

Sleeping most of the day

to walking, climbing, and getting into everything all day.

HAPPY 1st Birthday Drew!!
October 25, 2008

It was a fun Happy Halloween Birthday Party!

P.S. Thankfully, alot can change for the mommy as well.

Me- October 24, 2007 approx. 10pm
In-labor heading to the hospital....(dilated to a 4 already when get there)
and oops....Jared realizes he never took any pictures of me pregnant! SMILE?!?
(For those of you who said I was a cute pregnant lady...I can now see you were only being kind, but thanks anyway)!!

Me- October 24, 2008

53 lbs LIGHTER(the last 13 were real stubborn, too)!!
FYI - I gained 45 pounds during Drew's pregnancy.
Pretty impressive for someone who was sick for the entire first HALF of her pregnancy. The additional 8 pounds were needed to fit back into MOST (not even all) of my old clothes.
That MATH doesn't make sense to even this ACCOUNTANT!!

When Grandma Comes

It's always fun when Grandma comes, When Grandma comes, hooray!!
My mom came to visit Oct. 8th to the 12th and it was perfect timing!! Isaac LOVED having Grandma here to play with and spoil him. And, it was nice to have some help with the boys and some company since Jared had been working ALL day and HALF of the night (like getting home at 1 am) for weeks in order to make the final tax deadline on October 15th.

We took the boys to the Springs Preserve one afternoon. They had a good time playing in the train and in the sand and water.

Drew....not so sure he likes the sand. What is that on my foot? Why won't it come off???
Interesting.........it is squashy in my hands!!
So, how does it taste???
We also took the boys to the Summerlin Pumpkin Festival on Saturday the 11th. If you can believe it...... it actually snowed and was very cold!! On Wednesday when my mom arrived it was in the 90's and on Saturday the high was in the 50's! That is cold for Vegas!!

We took pictures and picked some pumpkins from their pumpkin patch!

Grandma and the boys

Isaac making his choices...........

How did he do??? Slightly better than last year. He still managed to pick some pretty scared up pumpkins with lots of....hhmmmm...character. And despite my many attempts to pick other less interesting pumpkins; we still ended up with these. But at least they aren't still green (note there were actually no green pumpkins to pick from this year; thus I can only say slightly better than last year).

Isaac playing in the bounce house.

The GIANT pumpkin Grandma bought Isaac this scooter! He loves it! It was really easy for Isaac to talk her into it while we were at the store getting Drew's present for his upcoming birthday. However, that was what I was TRYING to bribe him with while potty training......so now what???
The boys playing outside!!
Grandma also taught Drew how to go down the stairs backwards!! YEAH!! Although he really isn't totally trustworthy so we still have to have the baby gates up...but maybe soon.

And finally on an unrelated note I would like to share my latest amateur photograph. I have titled this work: Death and Taxes

Let me set the scene for you.....It is October 15th and Jared actually got home from work while it was still light (5:15pm). We eat dinner together, get the kids to bed early (7:15 pm) and I am quickly finishing the dishes so we can watch the new movies I just rented.....and here is what I find on the couch SOUND ASLEEP (like DEAD to the world asleep) at 7:30pm. So, I turn off the lights and head upstairs to fold laundry! BUMMER! Maybe tomorrow (the 16th) I will get some company.

P.S. You can also view a similar work entitled: Death, Taxes and Baby here (at the end of the post).
